Motorola has a proven track record of providing quality phones at low prices. This year, it’s taken that ethos further to produce the Moto G7.
It’s a well-built phone with no significant compromises and offers everything you need for an affordable smartphone experience. That makes it an ideal choice for consumers looking to upgrade without spending much money.
The Moto G7 isn’t the first phone we’ve seen with a teardrop notch, but it’s one of the most impressive. Not only does it maximize screen coverage, but it also looks pretty great at the same time.
The G7’s display is a 6.2-inch FHD+ (2,270 x 1,080) panel with a slightly tall 19:9 aspect ratio. It’s a bit pixelated, but it does an excellent job of reproducing text and images at a high resolution.
Its viewing angles are great, too, as you’d expect from a display with a high screen-to-body ratio. Moreover, the show has very sharp and vibrant colors.
While it’s not the most powerful smartphone in the Moto G7 family, it handles everyday tasks such as web browsing, social media messaging, and watching YouTube smoothly without any lag. On the other hand, gaming isn’t as smooth – even titles that aren’t particularly demanding, like Clash Royale, lagged quite a lot.
The Motorola Moto G7’s camera is a solid performer, producing well-rounded images with a good balance of colour and detail. However, this isn’t enough to overcome the fact that it struggles to deal with low light.
The front-facing camera is set with a rounded water drop-style notch. It creeps a little more into the screen than I’d have liked and isn’t exactly hidden, but it’s an interesting design choice that draws attention to the phone.
The camera app is a bundle of machine-vision-powered conveniences, including Google Lens for object recognition, Cinemagraph mode, and Spot Colour shooting modes. It also includes a handy ‘HDR’ way to improve images taken under dim lighting.
Over the past few years, the Moto G line has become a go-to option for people looking for quality smartphones at a budget price. Motorola has always done an excellent job of ensuring the devices it releases match its competitors without compromising too much on performance or specifications.
The new Moto G7 is no exception to this rule. The company has tweaked the internals but made no compromises on design or specs, delivering a more premium feel than in previous Moto G models.
The new 6.2in the display is edge-to-edge, which means it fills most of the front of the phone. The IPS panel isn’t the best we’ve seen, but it offers decent colour representation and contrast and is bright enough to work well for everyday use.
The Moto G7 Power is a budget Android phone with solid performance and surprisingly impressive battery life. At $250, it’s an excellent value for those who want a high-quality device without breaking the bank.
The Motorola Moto G7 is one of the most popular budget phones thanks to its low price, excellent performance, and good battery life. It has a 6.2-inch display, a slick contemporary design, and a near-stock version of Android 9 Pie.
But the G7 Power’s 5,000-mAh battery really stands out, delivering almost 48 hours of power. That’s a massive jump from the 3,000-mAh battery inside most G series phones, making this one of the best battery-focused smartphones we’ve ever tested.
The Moto G7 Power is an excellent value for its price, and we highly recommend it. It’s a great buy if you need a reliable and affordable Android smartphone that will last two full days on a charge. It can be purchased directly from Motorola or third-party retailers like Amazon (opens in new tab). The Moto G7 Power also includes a fast-charging “Turbopower” charger.
